guys, i'm really confused right now. I have a brand new board i bought on
9/11, it's less than a month old and yesterday all of a sudden when i turn
my pc on it just stays at the splash screen, it's not going into the bios or
anything. i took it apart and here's what's freaking me out.

Why and how would the MB turn it's self on w/o any power wires connected to
the turn it on? i turned in on from the back and it powered up before I hit
the power on button. so something told me to unplug the power on cable and
once i turn the power on from behind it turns itself on everytime. Does
anyone know what could cause that.

Intel D865GVHZL Socket 478 Motherboard
Intel Celeron D 340 2.93Ghz Socket 478

Try resetting the bios...

also see what happens if you disconnect the HD and CD/DVD

The turn on: its a feature in the bios called A/C power recovery. You
can control it in the bios.

I read through the manual and I didn't come across anything on how to
control the A/C power recovery. is there a jumper I need to set?

Also I found the jumper for the bios, but I never had to play w/ it and this
manual sucks. Do you reset the bios by removing the jumper completly or do
you jump it to 3-4 instead of 1-2? and do i turn on the board and then put
it back to jumper 1-2? I tried both, w/ no jumper and w/ the jumper on 3-4
and I heard awhile back that when you turn it on that will reset it, can
anyone confirm.

ok i reset the bios by just keeping the battery out for 10 mins. i found out
that my primary HD is keeping the bios at the splash screen, but w/o it, it
goes into the bios. I tried setting my primary as a slave and made it my
slave and my slave HD my primary, but still no good. my HD powers up, I also
changed the ribbon cable. any thoughts?

Primary master hard drive has failed is the most likely.

Does the system go into the bios with only the primary slave drive
connected?
