Has anyone here used the free Maya PLE 3d modeller software?
Hi: I am in the 3D world. Maya PLE is weak.
First, the render is watermarked/washed out. No biggy just buy the full
version, and Re-Render.. Right?
Wrong... Maya Model file formats and stuff are diffrent from Maya PLE and
the real maya (so I hear). and the work you do in PLE will need to be
re-modeled in Maya
I downloaded the PLE and put it on a CD-R cause it needed Win XP (when I was
on Win 98 waiting for a computer upgrade) the setup-app is timelocked.
meaning you install the downloaded file, and later down the road if you try
to re-install, it will ask you to re-download.
This next part isn't freeware related, but i will quickly mention it for
you.
When I was first looking for modeling software (full package from modeling
to rendering) Some other artist I found on the net sent me to get animation
master ( http://www.hash.com ). Easier to use than freeware modelers, and
quite afordable (in relation to maya and others). They might not advertize,
but they do have a 30 day money back gaurentee.
Also: There is a Freeware modeling application called wings 3d (
http://www.wings3d.com ). It is freeware, and a popular application for
polly modeliong.
