Assuming you have looked at Maxtor.com, and did not find it there ... what
makes you think you will find it eslewhere?

Sheesh ... yes that makes sense ... So, if Maxtor doesn't have firmware
updates for their own products then someone else must have them. They've got
to be there ... somewhere .... Or Maxtor HAS them but they chose to not
publish them on their own website. Sheesh that I didn't think of that.

Like nobody writes modified firmware for different applications.Many,many
DVD drives have customised firmaware for region limitations.What this guy
might want to do is change a model number to make compat.with say a dishnet
PVR or something.Here is a 2 second search result

Like nobody writes modified firmware for different applications.

Almost no one does for hard drives except the manufacturer.

Many,many DVD drives have customised firmaware for region limitations.

Even you must have noticed that hard drives dont have region limitations.

What this guy might want to do is change a model number
to make compat.with say a dishnet PVR or something.

Or he might not.

Maxtor Quantum SCSI disk firmwares are @ ftpdownload.maxtor.com.
You're going to have to call customer support and explain why you NEED
a firmware update for an ATA drive and hope that they are willing to
help.
