No driver disks. Even on the Maxtor website, there's only drivers fo
Windows 98
Windows 98
I just purchased a new computer and tried connecting my Maxtor 3100 to
it and am having the exact same issue. I have 2 other computers and the
drive works perfect. The only difference is that I am using XP Home on
the new computer. I have connected the drive to a desktop running XP
Pro w/ USB 2.0 & a laptop running XP Home w/ USB 1.1 with no problems.
I get an immediate message that says "USB DEVICE NO RECOGNIZED" when I
connect it to the new computer.
The new PC is a HP Pavilion a1034n. Like the other party stated, there
was no installation disk for the drive, only drivers to download for
Win98SE on the website. If anyone has any ideas..please let me know!
Thanks!

Right click MY Computer\Manage\Disk Management.darenstrevens said:I've just bought the same Hard Drive, works on my Laptop, not on my
desktop both running XP.
It shows in device manage as being active, it passes when I do a test
with utility provided from their website.
Doesn't show in explorer!
Did anyone manage to sort this out?
