I have heard that XP only operates with 512mb of ram even
though you can install more - is this true?

Hi

No, you have heard wrong. XP 'can' use up to 4 Gbs of RAM, but that would
be dependent on your motherboard. Have a look in the manual that came with
your mobo for more information. I had 2 PCs here that ran with 2 Gbs RAM
without any problems - RAM used as necessary.

Hi

As the Q was about XP, I can't see why Win 98SE comes into the equation.

| Windows 98SE doesn't use RAM above 512MB, from what I've been told.
