What is the approximate number of records that MS Access
can hold? I am looking for a ballpark figure to make a
determinination if Access is the right tool to use, or if
I should use another.

Access97 has a max file size of 1 Gig; Access2000 and Access2002 have a max file
size of 2 Gig. There is no limit as to the number of records - only the file
size. There have been mention in the newsgroups of Access databases of 1 million
plus records in one of the tables in the database performing satisfactorily.

True the max file size for an Access file is 2GB. However, since you can
link between Access databases there is no limit to files or records.
