Maximum programs open

Anyone know of a work-around for what seems to be a XP
limit of approximately 65 open programs running at once? I
would like to increase the max allowed to at least 85.
System is 2.5 Ghz pentium and 768 MB ram.
 
I'm sorry but I just have to ask: Why do you need to have 85 programs
running at once? I don't think the computers that launch the Space Shuttle
have as many programs running at the same time.

There seems to be no such limit here. I can easily run 200 programs at once
(not that I have much reason to do so) on a 2.4GHz/1024MB Pentium.
 
Are we talking about programs or files here? I can't imagine the need for
either but, I really can't imagine 65+ programs open at one time.

Perhaps invividual instances of the same program erm internet explorer comes
into mind
