I was suggested from the company that supports me that in order to connect 80
clients to a terminal Server i need more than 4 GB of physical memory.
Is that true?
My server supports up to 16GB of memory but the win2k server stantart
suports up to 4GB. For this problem they suggest two servers and the clients
to be divided between these two servers.

Thank's in advanse,

We've got a Xeon 3ghz w/6g ram on a 2kAdvanced server, with about 50
people connecting at one time, and there is no lag whatsoever.

You may want to look at a dual-processor setup.

There is no advantage in adding more than 4GB of RAM to a Terminal Server, as
the system is limited to 2GB or user memory and 2GB of system memory. Using
advanced server is usually a waste of money for Terminal Servers because the
system usually runs out of system memory which you can not expand beyond 2GB.
The best configuration for reasonable cost is a dual-xeon server with 4GB or
RAM. It also does not pay to scale up to a quad or eight-way system to add
more users because these machines are way more expensive than several smaller
two-way servers and can not handle as many sessions, as they do not scale
linearly.

Scale-out to two or 3 machines if needed and use an inexpensive load
balancing program like WTSGateway Pro to spread the load evenly between the
nodes of your farm.

There is no definitive calculation you can use to size a terminal server, as
it totally depends on the applications being used. I have a setup that can
only handle 20-30 users perm machine on dual-xeons because the applications
being used are memory and CPU intensive and application management software
makes perceived performance worse, so I use 4 1U servers to serve 60 users
with the ability to lose a node w/o users being affected.
