Maximum number of rules for Outlook 2002/2003

I've been searching the KB and Newsgroups for any
articles pertaining to the maximum number of rules that
are allowed to run automatically (or manually) in both
versions of O/L.

1) Maximum allowed rules (both automatic and manual).
2) If that total includes client vs. server rules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

There really is not a limit to the "number" of rules in a mailbox. The limit
is on the total "size" of the rules in a mailbox. The following article
outlines this limit.

236088 OL2000: (CW) Error Message: Not Enough Space on the Exchange Server
to
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=236088

Both client and server rules are stored in your mailbox so the 32 KB limit
is a sum of both types of rules.

Hope this helps.

Yes, this helped tremendously. You wouldn't happen to
know how to work around this limit, would you?

I saw an article regarding VBA scripts to run customized
rules. Thanks again.

One way to use the space the best way is to have fewer rules, but more
actions in each rule as each time a new rule is created, it has some
overhead connected with it. I have found about a 20% space saving when doing
this.

Tedd's approach is definitely the way to go.
