Maximum Number of Contacts

I am importing several phonebooks from other sources into Outlook and need to
know if the number of contacts Outlook will take is unlimited or what is the
maximum number.

In my last post, you advised me to import into folders. I have already
imported into about 20 folders and need to do about 40 more.

Prior to this, I reformatted my harddrive and re-installed Office. This
left me with a fresh, clean Outlook with no contacts or anything else in it.
So what I did was create folders under Contacts. Some of the folders will
contain several thousand items. Need to know how many Outlook Contacts will
hold. At this time, Contacts itself is completely blank--only the folders
under it have items.

If you have large table support enabled in Outlook 97-2000 (not sure if 2002
is enabled by default but 2003 is), you can have about 65,000 items in a
folder and about 65,000 folders. Of course, your default limit for the .pst
file is still 2 gigs, but the practical limit is about 1.87 gigs.
