We have a network of computers all running Win2k. We don't have a server but
one of the computers acts as a file server by having file sharing switched
on. The size of the network has slowly been increasing so that there are now
10 computers trying to access the file server. Occasionally when a computer
tries to connect to the shared volume we get a message saying that it can't
connect because the maximum number of network connections has been reached.
Does Win2k place a limit to the number of users that can access a shared
volume, and, if so, what is it and can we increase it, or is it time to
install a proper server for our network?
TIA.
