I know XP only officially supported 10 monitors (via multiheaded graphic
cards).

Does anyone know what the maximum number of monitors supported in Vista?

Thanks

I don't know for sure. According to information I have seen: It
probably depends on whether you are using WDDM (Vista style) or XDDM
(XP style) display drivers.

WDDM doesn't support multicard PCI configurations (only PCIe) so you'd
be limited by the number of PCI express slots of the correct physical
size you have. WDDM requires that all the video cards be controlled
by the same driver, you can't mix cards from different vendors. I
don't really know how many simultaneous monitors are supported with
WDDM. Overall the new WDDM isn't as general as XDDM, so it wouldn't
surprise me if the limit was less than or equal to the XP limit. I
would guess that the situation when using XDDM drivers is roughly the
same as XP, but of course you don't get the benefits of WDDM drivers.

Thanks Chris.

It sure is hard to get any information on this topic -- but from what
little I've been able to find it seems your observation that the number
of screens being less than or equal to XP is probably on target.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
