A bit of a strange problem, basically i work in a large organisation
with around 3000 PCs. The problem seems to be with users who have
shared printers setup. What happens is that there are always 10
connections attached to the PCs which have a printer shared out.
The strange thing is though is that the PCs which seem to be hogging
the maximum 10 connections aren't PCs which should be using the slaved
printer. Infact they don't even have the printer setup. The PCs which
are hogging the 10 connections keep randomly changing, also the PCs
which hog the sessions always them selves have a shared printer. Most
PCs involved are Windows 2000 SP4 with all latest updates.
This is causing a lot of problems, this means that the actuall small
amount of users who want to print to a shared printer have to either
wait for ages before it prints or get an error message about maximum
connections.
It did seem to stop for a while this problem , but has come back again.
We have tried alsorts.
Any ideas?
