The problem is that all my windows are always cascading,
and I cannot maximize them. Even within a program (i.e
Photshop, Autocad) all files' windows are cascading and
the maximize button only makes them grow to the border of
the viewable area, but not maximize. Is there a setting
I don't know about? Please help!

thank you

Daniel.

Usually max properties screws it all up.
Try setting back to normal, then hover the mouse to an
edge, when it double arrows itself,L.click then stretch to
desired max,do at all 4 sides.XP as it leaves the page,
any page,it will re-open as it left,IE is a good area
to try,you should only see one square per box in R.upper
corner.

That's not what I'm talking about. I do not want
to "stretch" the window to the max. What I am refering to
is to the "maximize button"... i.e: when loading a file
in Autocad, you can have it fill the whole screen (the
file name appears over the top menu bar) or fill the
whole work area ("Autocad" appears over the top menu, and
a secondary menu bar appear to the top of the work area
with the filename) The problem is that all windows are
detached and I want them attached. I though it was a
Autocad problem at first, but then I realize it was doing
the same thing in Photoshop.

There is a difference between having a "detached" window
that's the size of the screen, and having a maximized
window that's attached to the main program window.
