Help!

My maximise button in IE makes the window maximise BUT the
window is in the wrong place, it is about 5 pixels lower
than the top of the screen and the status bar at the
bottom of the window is tucked underneath start bar.

All other windows My Computer, My Documents all work fine
it's just IE6 that's playing up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You probably use some of those visual styles for Windows. Some of them are
quite buggy and can cause maximized window dislocation... if you use one of
those visual styles, try to switch it off (use standard Windows 98 or XP
look) and try again with maximized window. You may have to place that IE
window into wanted position manually for the first time... let me know if it
was your problem...

Hope this helps a bit...

Cheers !

.

The problem did occur after I had installed WindowBlinds
but I've uninstalled and still the problem remains. I
can't seem to move it, drag it or do anything else to put
it back.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, any ideas how to fix
it though?

Now, I'm 100% sure we found the core of your problem. Unfortunatelly I don't
know how to solve your problem, 'cause I've never used WindowBlinds (that's
just memory and system resources eater, totaly useless application, and
what's most important, it has so many bugs). I patched UXtheme.dll, so now,
I can use Visual Styles made by myself, and what's best, doesn't require any
additional program to have different skins in Windows.

Back to your problem... I really don't know what you suppose to do now, but
I believe that reinstalling Windows could help. You know, you won't lose any
of your programs, informations or files if you reinstall Windows, it's just
you'll spend some time reinstalling Windows again.

Assuming that that interference is not the cause of your problem
the usual cure is the procedure documented by Sandi Hardmeier

Remove any 'Auto-hide' option for the taskbar and then maximise
the problem window.

Unfortunately, it's not very clear that the fix for the problem she is
describing is the fix for this problem.

Good luck

Solution found:

1. Close IE
2. Remove the registry entries in MS Q194759 and also
remove the (2) entries in the registry relating to window
size
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Desktop\Components
\0
(Sorry I can't remember what they were and now they are
gone)
3. Then restart computer.
