maxdiamond9 160 gb drive a tip for slave mode

I have one and its never worked right. at least in slave mode

I went to the maxtor site and found an error in their documentation

first look at the jumper settings which have the small square one on
the right top, left of that is the empty one with a pin down below--
all the other pins are double/

to set this drive as a slave you need to connect the 2 top pins one out
from the left


ok again there are 5pins across the bottom from left to right -- 3
across the top Lto R -- a blank and then the no use square pin

cross the 2nd and 3rd ones from the left to put it in slave mode
NOT the no jumper as the documentation mentions -- someone at Maxtor
looked at the pin diagram UPSIDE DOWN when they wrote the guide

That's not true. The horizontal position is just to hold a spare
jumper. The drive functions fine as a slave with no jumpers
installed.
