AxCrypt can do this. I have used it for a couple of years withoutSeeking something like Maxcrypt that will encrypt & decrypt a set of

When I
click on the encrypted files they are decrypted and opened from a temp
location in OpenOffice. When I close the player the the used tmp files are
erased while the original encrypted file is still intact or they get
updated if I have edited the document. This means a minimum of
encrypt/decrypt operations when using this wonderful piece of freeware.
Wow, that's great. Did I read correctly, the enc/dec is "automatic"? Can
this be "packaged and sent to another user along with the file(s)?
I have an attorney who wants to enc/dec files to his clients and his only
concern is the exposure of info as his emails go from point of origin to
point of acceptance.
It's automatic in the sense that the file is decrypted to a tmp file which
then again is opened in the associated application. It's not the encrypted
file itself that's being opened. If you then edit the decrypted tmp file
the changed file will be replaicing the original encrypted file and the
tmp is wiped (not only deleted).
Yes, you can send encrypted files to someone else with AxCrypt installed
even if they do not have AxCrypt installed since you can choose to encrypt
to an executable file which can then be opened by the recipient (as long
as the recipient has the password of course). Very clever! You can also
choose to encrypt using a key file, not a password, which makes it even
more secure. In this case the recipient needs to have the key file on
their computer to open the file.
All in all, an almost totally transparent file encryption solution. And
it's free. Pretty amazing..![]()
Better than pretty. Thanks, Christian. For that you get a peek.
