Matsushita Display Technology Co. has announced a new LCD display which can actually capture the image of an object in front of the screen. The LTPS LCD ('Input Display') has QVGA resolution (320 x 240 x 3) and has an optical sensor in each pixel, this means that not only can it display an image but it can also capture one by scanning down the screen. At the moment this device is monochrome only and captures a 960 x 240 image (3 sub-pixels for each square pixel).EE Times Story

I don't know if any of you recall a joke on the Internet what claimed they could take a picture of your face if you look into the screen...it then displayed a monkey. :)

Well now this will become a reality...

Yes I do remember that joke but I did not subscribe to it then. Just used it on others, they did not just see the monkey but felt like one after they realised their stupidity.:D

Now it looks like we have no where to run or hide. Will we all will become monkeys in the face of technology?:brow:

This sort of technology really is pushing the limits - I wonder how long it will be before we start to see this sort of stuff in everyday items? I'm very interested in the super thin plastic displays - a high resolution screen on a polymer as thick as a sheet of paper!
