Match function just won't work!

I am going crazy.
I am trying to do a straightforward match between two worksheets an
its just giving me n/a for all results.
I have copied the formatting changed both sets of columns to genral an
to text. sorted both columns.
the only way it works is if i copy the cell entry from lookup value t
the lookup array, or if iset the match value to 1 which doesn't give m
accurate results.

Can you offer any suggestions

probably different formats or leading/trailing spaces / invisible
characters. Try comparing two identical looking cells with a formula
like
=A1='sheet1'!A1
this should return TRUE. If this returns false there is something wrong
with a format and/or other characters

you can use pearson's cellview add in to find out whether there are
invisible characters. if there are invisible characters there are some
macros in this url to remove the invisible characters
