Match and near Match for Postcodes

I need to be able to enter a postcode and then display the 5 nearest matching postcodes (selected from an existing table). The application is to allow my customer service staff to be able to find the nearest retailers of our product to a customer. I cant work out how to do this with a query?
 
Does your table define a location for the post code in terms of a grid
reference, or do you have a massive matrix of distances between all
postcodes?
