Hi, I have a large network which is been segmented using
vlan configurations. So, the question is how do i can to
config the master browser to listen only computers on its
segment. I have a AD domain with one master browser to all
the network how is suppose to be , but now i need to
verify to see only computers on its own segment, obviously
pc's on that segment should not see computers at other
segment (vlan)

Thanks any help to config this !!!!

First of all, you should determine whether you really need to support this
service once you have Active Directory.

Read the following article on the Windows Browser Service:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...indows2000serv/reskit/tcpip/part4/tcpappi.asp

Depending upon how your VLan is configured, each could be behaving like a
subnet. Microsoft docs assume that a subnet = a broadcast domain, and the
Browser Service works within broadcast domains.

You must ensure that each NetBIOS broadcast domain has a valid Master
Browser. Once done, you need to ensure each Master Browser can pass it's
browse list to the Domain Master Browser (the PDC FSMO) and back again.
Once that is done, you will be able to browse resources across the broadcast
domains.

ok I understand you. So, suppose I have one master browser
per subnet, fine but i don't want transfer the master
browser list to the domain master browser !!
WHY? Because I don't want to allow clients on each subnet
to find resources on other subnets. So i think to block
the browser list traffic among subnets.

Example: Accounting Departament= Clients only see
computers on that subnet
Manager Department =Computers only on that subnet without
access to research computers on the neighborhood of others
subnets.

I hope you understand my point !!
Thanks beforeheand any help
