Master3 hangs on POST - RAM problems?

Hi guru's :)

I tried many combinations of DIMM slots, the result is always a hanging
(locked up) memory selftest during POST.
Sometimes it gets to 2048 MB, sometimes to 1024, sometimes only to 48 MB or
even 7 MB
(depends on which DIMM slots are used).
I assume I have "128 bit dual channel RAM" (but I tried the DIMM configs for
64 bit single channel as well - beeping MOBO resulted).

I reset the CMOS RAM, I tried many Setup configs, I tried a single strip
(but the manual says I need to use all 4 strips so I mainly experimented
with putting them in different slots like page 2-7 suggests).
The PSU is recomended by the supplier, also the RAM should work fine. It is
registered and all the same type/manufacturer.

The weird thing is that when I go into the setup before POST hangs, the
setup sees 3 GB "extended" RAM and 640 MB "main" RAM.
I tried 333 / 400 settings, turning off the Chipkill and "registered"
features, to no avail. The system hangs and the Win64 CD/DVD does not boot.

I looked in the error log (in the setup) and it is empty. No mobo beeps
either. Poeple have said that this mobo is very picky with RAM. What to do?

This is the setup:

2 x AMD Opteron 275 2.2 GHz, 2way Socket 940, Boxed
MSI K8D Master-3-133-FS
Foxtron PSU 550 W
4 x Corsair PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB ECC REG 64Meg x 4 CAS 2.5 "Low Profile"
Matrox Parhelia PCI-X
Phoenix ServerBIOS 3 Release 6.0

It turned out that www.Komplett.no sells mobo's that have an age-old BIOS
that doesn't recognize dual-core..
