In my PP 2007 presentation I have 14 master sets, each contain a "Title
Slide" I have two issues with this slide. (1) In most of the sets I'm not
able to delete it (2) in all of the sets a footer item I added on the master
slide does not appear on this slide whereas the footer item does appear on
all of the other slides in the set. In the other slides I cannot select the
footer item (this is as I expect) but on the title slide I can select and
modify the footer item. When I modify it the change is not reflected on the
master slide (as expected) and the change appears on the slides in the
presentation using this layout. I have another text box in the upper right
corner of my master which contains "Chapter Number #" where "Chapter number
is a number 1 to x and # is the slide number inserted by PP. On all slides
except for the Title Slide I cannot select this text box (as expected) but on
the Title Slide I can select the text box as I can with the footer item. What
the heck did I do wrong?

OK I just solved the issue - It appears that I turned off the background
graphics and at somepoint I had added the two boxes because they were not
present.

You can delete title slide layouts. You cannot do so if any slide in the
presentation is using that layout.

The first slide by default always gets a Title layout, so you probably need
to change the layout on that slide, then delete the Title Slide Layout.
