Master/SubDocument - Examples

Word2002/XP

I've been reading what has been writting concerning Master and Sub
Documents - which is what I would like to do for three manuals that share
common forms.

But this doesn't seem like an easy task and I have to make the documents
managable by my supervisor.

Do any of the MVP's have an example of a working Master/SubDocument?
