master page?

Is it possible to create a master page and have others derive their
formatting and some date and header content from that page?
The project is to have a sheet for every month of the year, dates on the
left and departments accross the top.
I have for years just erased the contents of every page with a recorded
macro and placed a new date in A1 of the first page which propagates to all
the other pages date cells .
It works fine but I would like to move stuff around now and I would hate to
change the format on all 12 pages.
Is it possible to create a master page that I could "call" from the 12 pages
so that if I made a change to the master page, all the other pages would
change format too? I guess the closest example I can think of would be a
Word template or Pagemaker master page.
Does this make sense?

For future new inserted worksheets.......

Go to File>New>Blank Workbook

Format Sheet1 as you wish.

Delete other sheets.

File>Save As>File Type> MS Excel Template(*.xlt)

Type SHEET in the name box. Do not add the .XLT, Excel will do that for you.

Save it in your XLSTART folder.

That sheet will become the default Insert>Worksheet.

For existing workbooks...........

Select all sheets by right-click on any sheet tab and "select all sheets"

Format the active sheet how you want. The formatting will be replicated on
all other sheets in the group.

DO NOT FORGET to right-click a tab and "ungroup" when done.

What you do to one sheet is being done to all. Can lead to disastrous
results.

But you would be screwing up only on a backup copy, right?
