I have a small network (25 client machines) all running
XP Pro in a Windows 2000 domain. One of the clients is
causing the following event repeatedly in the system log
on the server.

THE MASTER BROWSER HAS RECEIVED A SERVER ANNOUNCEMENT
FROM THE COMPUTER <COMPUTERNAME> THAT BELEIVES IT IS THE
MASTER BROWSER FOR THE DOMAIN ON TRANSPORT
NetBT_Tcpip........blah blah blah.

Anybody help?

Hello,

You can turn off the computer browser service on that computer. This will
keep it from taking place in the browser election and will not hamper the
computers ability to browse.

To encourage singlehomed computers to become the browser servers, use
Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to edit the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\
IsDomainMaster

Change the value of this key to "yes" (without the quotation marks), quit
Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.
