Hi,

Can anyone tell me the priorities for machines deciding to
become master browsers on a network?

Also, how is it possible to force a certain machine to
become master browser? Or is it just a case of turning
mastr browser capability off on everything else?

If so, how is this achieved in Win 2000 server ?

As far as i know it depends on the platform it uses.

If you use a Domain then should not be a problem with any
of them when users logs into domain.

Else it's like this:

If in the network with only 98 systems there can be more
then 1 master browsers. Network start to divide (not all
computers are visible)

If the network is mixed 2000 with 98 the first 2000 that
comes to network takes place over the 98 ones, but the 98
problem is that still acts like master browser and network
divides

If network is 2000 only first one become the master
browser the others accept as it is.

This is the behavior i saw in my network, might be other
explanations to

In the registry go to :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\

Set "ISDomainMaster" to True so become master browser
