Hi everyone

I've got a new computer, and I've added it to my home
network, which now has 3 computers. My new computer is
running XP Pro, and my old computer has Windows 2000.

I have a Linksys Router, and when I added my new computer
I assigned it the nexe IP number (my old computer is 101,
my wife's is 102, and my new computer is 103). Now,
whenever my old and new computer are running, I get a lot
of event log system errors about both computers thinking
they are the "master browser."

My question is - how do I make my OLD computer stop
thinking it is the "master Browser?"

Thanks

To turn off the browser

Yopu have to use the regoistry editor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet \Services \Browser \Parameters

Change the value of MaintainServerList from Auto to No

Hi, Dave -

The easiest way is to disable the Computer Browser
service on the Windows 2000 machine.
