I have been running two physical hard drives with XP ever
since XP was released. No problem, but last week XP
failed to recognize my secondary drive (primary C:, E:
partitioned 40 gig drive)(secondary drive D:, 20 gig, non-
partitioned.) I keep getting varying messages depending
on the program I am using to access it, but bottom line
is it sounds like my MBR is messed up on D:. Does anyone
know how I can repair it without losing my data on that
drive? I was going to use fdisk, but XP does not have it.

This has to be a XP bug. Because I've read allot about
this, only under XP with various drives. I had a new
160Gb Maxtor which passed all PowerMax tests come up empty
for no reason.

I don't want to change topic from Larry's original post
but I does dound like the same problem I have. I simply
can't get windows to recognize the drive! I have tried
the Recovery Console commands FIXMBR G; (G is the drive
I'm having trouble with) and CHKDSK G; and I just get the
message "The volume appears to contain one or more
problem". It really would be nice if windows had a way to
fix this. I suppose I could try some software solution to
recover the files that I still want to save...? ANY IDEAS?
