Good morning.

I have an addressbook in Outlook Express, which I have exported to my
desktop.

Am I right in thinking that when I enter/change addresses I have to do so
twice - once in OE, and once on my desktop?

Your Desktop version may or may not be the same version as your OE version. You
didn't explain exactly how you "exported" it there.

A simple test would verify its status. Simply add a temporary address to the
Desktop version. Close the address book, then launch OE and open its address
book to see if the test address is present. If so, you're all set.

If not, you can create a shortcut from OE's Address Book and place it on the
Desktop.

Here's how:

1) Delete the Desktop Address Book.

2) Search for *.wab file. If you find more than one, you'll have open OE's
Address Book and edit or add some data. A subsequent search will reveal the
current date & time for the active WAB file.

3) Right-click on the WAB file and then select "Create shortcut". A warning
dialog will appear. Click on Yes to send it to the Desktop. You would then be
using the same Address Book, from the Desktop, that is used by OE.
