I'm receiving a massive attack of viruses, worms and other stuff. Yesterday
I've received about 70 messages with malicious attachments, today 140. I
took note of the addresses of the senders ( by the outlook express
"properties" ), but I don't know if these addresses are fakes.

I don't want to complain with some "abuse" authority but I want to try
working out the thing by myself.

How could I counterattack?

Thanks in advance

In this case, the only counterattack is to duck. Delete all the crap and
batten down the hatches.
Filtering this trash is tedious because it seems the latest Swen garbage is
able to morph. Add to the mix the endless supply of gullible people and you
have a serious problem.

good luck.

You can't. By the way, try reading previous posts and you might get a
clue without having to post.

thanks for the suggestion : )

Get yourself a server side spam program like Mailwasher or similar. At least
that way all the rubbish (if it's setup correctly) will not get on to your
PC

My OE message rules are working great. I use "from" " Microsoft" and
"message body contains" "Worm.Automat.AHB", both delete. If you're not
familiar with message rules, become.

And you sir might try remembering what you have previously posted and try
not to sound like a broken record.
As we all know, once a word is spoken or written or a question asked the
same should never again be spoken, written or asked.
This is not "Bill's" forum !!

I installed it with great satisfaction, and I am happy it is a freeware.
Thanks Clive

I applied the rules you suggested and, so far, I did not get further
"Worm.Automat.AHB".
In a few hours I received a lot of very good advices. What a nice group!

A very good solution also is to change your mail address (if possible). I
did so and I did not receive any mails with a virus attachment for already 2
days now...

kind regards,

Vriendelijke groeten,

Dany Rosseel

I have personal reasons compelling me to keep my current address.
Anyway thanks for your aid, Dany.

I wonder how long before the new (posted) address get propagated
to all newsservers and harvested by the worm. I think you should
have munged it just a little.
