A few times a year I need to send an email to nearly everyone in my address
book. How can I send one email to each one, containing the same text, but
only one name in the "To:" box.
If I put everyones name in the "To:" box they will all see everybody elses
names/email adresses.
If I put everyones name in the "Bcc:" box the mail wil show up as bulk or
spam in the recepient's mailbox.

Plz help

Suggestions on using a mailing list in Outlook Express:
- In the Address book select New Group, give it a name (e.g. Putin's
Mailing List BCC), and then
use Select Members to add the desired contacts to the group
- In the Address book select New Contact, give it a name (e.g. Putin's
Mailing List) and enter
your own e-mail address
- When you want to send to the list, in the TO field select the "Putin's
Mailing List" entry and
in the BCC field select the "Putin's Mailing List BCC" group. Recipients
will see "Putin's Mailing
List" in the TO field (which looks better than "Undisclosed Recipients"
which sounds like
spam), they will not see the name or address of any of the people in the
list and you will get
a copy of the message.
(With OE5+ you have to check the option to View, All Headers in a Mail
composition window in
order to see the BCC field.)

I'm back mac.

Tried your suggestion re. mailing list, but all the recipients names are
viewable in the individual recipient's "To:" box.

I am by no means a power user, or mvp, but the way I do this, and I send a
lot of emails to groups, is:

1. I have an individual email set up as "Putins Group" and this only has
my personal email address, no other.
2. Then I set up the Group with the emails I want to get the emails as
"Putins Email Group" (different name)
3. I then put #1 in the To: box and #2 in the Bcc: box.

This way everyone will see only that this email is sent to Putins Group and
no other email is detectable, it is safe in the Bcc:

You did it wrong then, re-read the post please.
Set up 2 groups, *you only* in one in the 'to' line, the recipients in the
other, put that group in bcc line.

To use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature, In Create Mail, either
click View>All Headers and type in the addresses separated by a ;

Or: Click the To button. You will see your list of contacts and the
choice of putting them in the To, CC, or BCC field. Click on an
address, then click BCC to add it. Repeat for all the contacts you
want. (Note: Most ISP's have limits as to how many e-mails you can
send a one time. 25 is common, but it varies).

Put your own address in the To box. This is the only address/name that
any recipient will see. If you leave the To field blank, some people
may not receive the e-mail due to message rules they have set up, or
restrictions set by their ISP.

You can also create groups if you send mail to the same people often.

To create a group of contacts:

You can create a single group name (or alias) to use when sending a
message to several contacts at once. Simply create a group name and
add individual contacts to the group. Then, just type the group name
in the To box when you send e-mail.

1.. In the Address Book, select the folder in which you want to
create a group. Click New on the toolbar, and then click New Group.
2.. The Properties dialog box opens. In the Group Name box, type the
name of the group.
3.. There are several ways to add people to the group:
a.. To add a person from your Address Book list, click Select
Members, and then click a name from the Address Book list.
b.. To add a person directly to the group without adding the name
to your Address Book, type the person's name and e-mail address in the
lower half of the Properties dialog box, and then click Add.
c.. To add a person to both the group and your Address Book, click
New Contact and fill in the appropriate information.
d.. To use a directory service, click Select Members, and then
click Find. Select a directory service from the drop-down list at the
end of the text box.
After finding and selecting an address, it is automatically added
to your Address Book.
4.. Repeat for each addition until your group is defined.
Note

a.. To view a list of your groups separately from the Address Book
listings, in the Address Book, on the View menu, make sure that
Folders and Groups is selected.
b.. You can create multiple groups, and contacts can belong to more
than one group.

Your ISP may limit the number of addresses to which one (1) message may be
sent. 50 or fewer is normal.

What you want really can't be done with OE. Outlook can do it, though.
