mass mailing, not doing it right?

I have read thru the posts about mailing lists and bcc etc. I don't know if
I am doing this right. We want to send an email to all our clients but make
them think it is to them only. So we experimented with a name in the to:
field and bcc'd it to the others in our office to check. It shows up as to
the person in the to field but no mention of being sent to the recipient.
Ok, that obviously didn't work. So we put no one in the to field and put
everyone in the bcc field and tried again. It showed up as to the first
person in the bcc field and no mention of being to the actual recipient. I
had thought a bcc would just show up as to the person who received it, and
not to the first person on the list.

I've seen it suggested I should create groups and bcc it to that, but will
that show up as to the name of the group or to the individual who receives
it?

In the end we sent an individual email to everyone on our list. There has
to be an easier way!

Thanks!

Doing a "Mail Merge" from within Outlook would utilize MS Word to merge
into those separate mails. Only challenge I see would be a need for
attached files which will not be supported by this method.

I saw mail merge but we don't know how to do that. We are using Outlook 2000
BTW. We don't need to attach files, just send a message. Where can I look
for instructions how to do this?

Thanks
