How do I send an e-mail to a large distribution list so that recipient ONLY
sees his/her name (e.g. not entire distribution list)?

Actually I think you would want to send the email to yourself and then
put the distribution group in the BCC field so the address do not show
up.

Mail merge is better. It sends an individually addressed message to each
recipient, which makes it more likely to get through a spam filter (and
actually be read) than a message addressed to the recipient with Bcc.
