I am trying to create a document that will print out onto
headed note paper. There are various headings on the note
paper that I have duplicated on my word document. I want
to be able to view these headings on screen but not print
them as it would overlay on the headed paper which already
has these headings.

e.g

Our reference: JD/

I want to view on screen the "Our reference: JD/" but not
print it or be able to alter it's position on the screen
but be able to type the reference in and print as normal
after the forward slash.

Format the text as white and it will not print.

But if you format the text as white you can't see it on
screen. I want to be able to view it, but not be able to
alter it or view it. It's basically for a beginner at
computers who I want to make it very easy for them not to
go wrong! Talk of changing font colours will just scare
them!

Possibly you could set this up as a form with the "Print data only for
forms" setting. I've never tried this, so I don't know whether it prints the
data in the appropriate location or not.

Where is the "Print Data only setting for forms" option
located. I get the feeling it might work if I can find
the setting!

This works fine but is there anyway to do it the other way
around. i.e Everything in a text form field is NOT printed
but all other text on the page is printed. Can you stop
a .jpeg from being printed but still view it on the page.
I would post the document on the newsgroup but you can't
attach documents!

Hi, Cy,

There isn't any provision for printing everything except the text form
fields, other than emptying all the fields. You could try doing that,
by using Tools > Unprotect Document and then Tools > Protect Document
-- but it permanently loses everything that was entered before.

To suppress printing of a .jpg -- and all other pictures, graphics
from the Drawing toolbar, and textboxes -- go to Tools > Options >
Print and uncheck the "Drawing objects" box. Remember to check it
again after printing, or you'll be back here asking why your textboxes
won't print. <g>
