MAS slows down application launches

I recently installed MAS Beta 1 and I'm having a problem with big delays when
launching some (not all) programs from Windows Explorer with doubleclicks or
Open With (but not Send To). It seems to be due to having MAS activated
while my computer (W2K Pro) is also running a below-normal priority program
that uses 100% of the cpu. One possibility is that MAS is intercepting DDE
messages in a low-priority thread, or something along those lines. Does
anyone have any suggestions?
One program that is seriously impacted is TextPad (which uses DDE) but not
Notepad (which doesn't).

Thanks,
Ron

That's a pretty good set of observations. Some have noticed that Microsoft
Antispyware starts MDM under some circumstances.

I believe this (long pause when, for example, starting Word via
double-clicking on a doc, versus starting the .EXE itself) is a symptom
which is sometimes relieved by a repair install or remove and reinstall. I
don't have any picture of why this would be, however.

I can't say for sure that this issue will be relieved with beta2, but I
think there is an excellent chance--it has been observed here since the
beginning of the beta, and is surely known to the developers. Microsoft
staff have stated in recent chats that beta2 will be available this
quarter--i.e. in the next two months.
