After looking at all the new entries on this newsgroup (or others), I
want to mark them all as read. I can right click, select "mark", then
"all read", but isn't there a simpler way? Since the "k" in mark is
underlined, I thought ALT-K would at least get me that far. Or the
underlined "A" in All read. But neither one does anything.
Thanks.

You have to select the ones you want to mark as read. Highlight any one in a
news group. Then press ctrl | A. Then do what you want with them.

If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!

Wow .... you have plenty of choices. Here's my method:

If the newsgroup is open, just press Cntl/Shift/S .. nothing else

All of the previous advice assumed that you were using OE, not Thunderbird.
Since Thunderbird is not part of Windows, I suggest that you find a
newsgroup for Thunderbird. It won't be on the server you used this time.
