Please see post below. I installed the service pack that
I was supposed to install, made the changes as per the
instructions on the page:

"In the Page Setup dialog box, (on the File menu, click
Page Setup) reset the values to the settings that you
want.
To avoid this problem, disable Name AutoCorrect by
following these steps:
On the Tools menu, click Options.
In the Options dialog box, click the General tab.
Click to clear the Perform name AutoCorrect check box.
Click OK.
Quit and then restart Access."

Now ALL my date fields in ALL my forms are screwed up.
They come up with "#Name" and you can't type anything in
them. When I re-check the box listed above, this problem
goes away, but now I don't know if my original problem is
solved.

What the heck is going on??

Thanks again,
Melissa

Melissa:

1.) Look at the field name in the table the form is linked to as well as
the control on your form. The control source for the form's date control
should be the same as the name for the field in the table. They may be
different and simply changing the form's control source name could correct
the problem.

2.) If the field name is simply "Date", then you may want to change that
because it is a word that Access uses for functions and it can get
"confused". Of course if you change the field's name then you'll have to
change the control source for the form's date field related controls as well
as the name of the field where that table is used in queries or reports.

3.) If you have applied the Service Release, then even if you turn ON name
auto correct, your report's set up should now stay as you set it.

The field names are all unique: things such as
FloorShipDate and QuoteReqdDate. I did NOT change any of
the field names or control sources, just unchecked the
Name AutoCorrect box in the Options menu. The new problem
is occurring in the forms, I didn't even touch the
reports themselves.
I don't even understand how Name AutoCorrect can
influence my page margins!

Any other help would be appreciated,
Melissa

Melissa:

As I noted in my original mail, if you've installed the service pack, you
should be OK to leave Name auto correct "ON" at this point. Alternately,
simply change and reset the control source names in the forms and leave it
off. Why name auto correct impacted report set up is a bit convoluted but
it did (resetting things constantly).
