John

I have an OEM version of Works 6.0. Regardless of what I
try, including steps in help function, I keep getting an
error message "This is not a
valid measurement. You must enter a value between ? and ?".
I suspect a faulty program. I don't know what values are
question marks. Cannot change my margins. Any suggestions.

The cause is unknown and noone seems to have found a fix. Try changing printers (you don't actually have to have the printer) in Windows.

Does Works have a Detect & Repair facility on it's Help menu?

This is not a WORKS newsgroup, perhaps you will get a better
answer on a WORKS group.

But for what it is worth, set the paper size in page setup.
Set the left and right margins to a number from .5 to 1.5
inches (or whatever measurement system you are using) and
that will be the amount the print area is set inside the
paper edge. Tabs and indents will be further inside.

I could not find a Works newsgroup. If you could guide me
to one, I would appreciate it. At to setting the margins as
you suggest, that is what I want to do but it will not let
me change the margins. If gives me the error message I
showed earlier.

I am able to change margins in other programs like Word,
Paint Shop Pro, etc., but not Works. At the point of
changing the margins, the computer does not know which
printer I am going to use until I select it when I click on
Print. I have already used the repair facility found by
clicking on Help, About Works, but it does not solve the
problem.

John cogitated deeply and scribbled thusly:

It's under Home Productivity.
If you were using a newsreader instead of the horrible web access, you
could just type in "works" in the newsgroup listing and it would have
found it for you.

I don't know how works works (it's not a real program after all). But there is a concept of default printer that other MS WP program CARE DEEPLY about. They do all page layout calculations on what the default printer tells them it can do. Works is probably the same.

David Candy: You are a f***ing prick. Wish I could could slap you like the bitch that you are.

If you don't include the thread we don't know what you are
mad about.
