Hello,

There is a bug in the NETCF that causes certain calls to the Mappoint web
service to fail. When trying to render a map, the system will not return a
map if there is no pushpin on the map. I found out the hard way, and it was
no fun.

I have now seen another sample using mappoint where the author inserted a
comment to this effect
(http://samples.gotdotnet.com/quickstart/util/srcview.aspx?path=/quickstart/
CompactFramework/samples/mappointfindmap/mappointfindmap.src). I would like
to know exactly what it is that is broken, because I would like to do some
more work with web services on PPCs and don'¨t want to look over my shoulder
all the time. Also, I would like to know if the new version has the same
problem?

Best Regards

Peter,

Not sure if you are implying that all calls to MPWS from CF fail
if there are no pushpins defined in the render spec, but that is
simply not true. I have done commercial CF apps with
the MPWS for GPS manufacturers and had no issues with
rendering maps devoid of routes, pushpins, etc.

If you are having some specific difficulty, may I suggest you post
the code that is causing your the problem at newsgroup:

microsoft.public.mapppint.webservice

or email me directly.
