SCENERIO
I'm an IT worker running a small network in a college. We have 8 computers
on the network and a server running windows 2000 server.
On the networked computer is an application called Accman that i use to
manage new user accounts. We have four groups in the Accman software: (a)
for students (b) for staff (c) for tests (d) for visitors.
I accidentally disconnect the users$ folder on the server and find that this
causes a big problem.
THE PROBLEM:
users from all groups can still logon to the network through there usual
passwords and usernames but when they click on there home mydocuments folder
they get a message saying the path to the folder is incorrect please right
click on mydocuments folder and select properties to find the directory.
when checking the server the user folder is still there with all the files
for staff and students and other accounts.
An IT Technician has been to the centre to fix the problem which he did so
for the student and staff accounts by reconnecting the user$ folder. BUT
now only those two group accounts work when accessing the mydocuments
folder. The test and visitor accounts still come up with the mapping folder
error.
IS IT THAT THE PERMISSIONS ARE SET WRONG ON THE FOLDER?
or
IS THERE ANOTHER ISSUE I AM OVERLOOKING?
Thanks for any help!
