we have about 400 users in our LAN which is a win2k adv
server & all win2k pro environment.

we have 3 departments in our office & each of these
departments r assigned a folder with a drive letter.

M="abc"
R="def"
S="xyz"

and we have 1 folder that all users have access to

O="common"

i need to map these folders with respect to each users in
their respective departments from the server instead of
having to go to each workstation & manually map the same.
i know we can do it in the active directory but i dont
know how.

can someone please advice me or point me in the right
direction.

thanks

You might want to create a security group for each department - if you have
not already done so - and then use one of the logon scripts from Richard
Mueller's web site ( http://www.rlmueller.net ) that maps network drives
based on group membership.

There is also the ifmember.exe possibility.

You can also use something like kix ( http://www.kixtart.org ) to do this.
I use this in one environment. It works well as well.

Cary
