Using 1 98, 1 2000 and 1 xp machine is it possible to map my drives directly
to each program such as Word, Excel etc. or can I only map to My Documents
and then have to hunt from there? Thanks for any tips.

No. I keep the icons for the various programs I have installed on the Quick
Launch toolbar and I want each program to open directly to folders
associated with that program.

For instance, if I click the icon for Excel I want Excel to open to My Data
Sources instead of My Documents. Is that possible?

The only way I know of to do this is by changing the
local path of each programs in there Options menu for
each users.

I don't think there is a domain policy for default paths
of applications.

This is just a 3 computer peer-to-peer network.

You can map a drive to any location on a remote computer
that you have permissions to...

If you have shotcuts to your programs on your desktop,
right click on the shortcut, and a window will come up
with a line called "Start in". Enter the directory you
want this program to start in, or use the browse, and you
are done.

That didn't work. I found "Start In" only after first gong to Properties and
there entered the dir path. The program still opened up where it always had.

Have you tried changing the default path in | Tools | Options | File Locations?
