Mapping Drive and Transferring Files

I have just purchased a notebook and I want to transfer a
number of my files from my PC to the notebook so they can
be used on the road.

I have mapped the drives and the transfer started working
well. However, it came to a file in which "access was
denied" for whatever reason. I clicked "OK" and then the
transfer stopped. I couldn't easily tell what had been
transferred unless I went over each folder in detail. A
dreadful amount of work.

Is there a way of simply acknowledging the "access
denied" and go on with the transfer? Also, is there a way
in advance of determining which files will be access
denied? No apparent reason for denial but a real
nuisance.

I am using Windows XP Pro in both machines.

Any help here will be greatly appreciated.
Norm.
(I put this query onto the General site and then realized
that "Working Remotely" would be more valid)

Unfortunately, that is a limitation of using Windows Explorer to copy
files... :( I usually use a command prompt and xcopy with the /Z /S
options...
