I have an XP Home desktop PC and a Vista Home Premium laptop. I have mapped
a folder on the desktop PC as network drive Z: on the laptop. Originally, I
clicked the checkbox that says, "Reconnect at Login." The problem with this
is that if the desktop PC is off, the laptop takes maybe 3 times longer than
normal to boot. So, I removed that network drive and re-added it, but this
time I did not check the "Reconnect at Login" box. However, The next time I
rebooted the laptop the network drive was not there!
What I want is for the network drive to be always mapped, but for Vista to
not seek a connection to it unless I browse to that drive. Doesn't this work
in XP? I just don't recall having this problem before.
