When my computer is shutting down a gray box has started
to appear. With the message Mapisvc 32. exe Program not
responding. two options are offered end now or cancell.
If I click end now . Whatever it is ends and the computer
continues to shut down. Does anyone know what
Mapisvc32.exe is. And why it is not responding. I suspect
it is a system program not part of some application i
installed. I would like the computer to shut down
smoothly without any error messages. Anyone know whats
wrong. Thanks Ray

Nope it's not a system file - it's a virus. Suggest you update your AVP
definitions and run a system-wide scan. See
http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.fapi.html for more details.

No, I don't doubt you!:-) I either didn't check or didn't see your link.
Also, Ray had asked me to check this thread in responding to me in another
thread. Hence, I may simply have been focused on responding to him.

The proper way for me to have done this was to respond as I did but mention
at the outset that you had him covered and your response was correct.

I apologize.

No apology necessary, Mike. I was only teasing!

That's the trouble with these "new fangled inventions," we can't see the
person's face or hear the tone in their voice.:-)

No problem, take care.
