Hi List!

I am getting MAPI32.dll errors when half of my users try to connect to our
exchange server. Recently we had a server that was failing. We moved all
mailboxes from this server to a new Exchange 2003 SP2 server and now several
individuals can not connect.

I have gone through the ADSI Edit utility and I have found the problem but I
don't know how to fix it.

When I go to Domain | DC=domain,DC=com | OU=Users | CN= Firstname Lastname
and look at the properties for Attribute: msDS-ReplValueMetaData

I have two entries on the problem users that look like this. (Mail2 is the
old server and Mail is the new one)

<DS_REPL_VALUE_META_DATA>
<pszAttributeName>homeMDB</pszAttributeName>

When you moved the mailboxes from the failing server, did you also move all
the public folders, and more importantly, did you move the System folders
too? That can cause a huge issue.

For the failing users, did you manually change their profile to point to the
new mail server? If that didn't work, did you delete the current mail
profile, restart the machine, and recreate it with the new server?

I've never seen this issue with these entries in the config container. It
leads me to believe something else deeper is going on, perhaps with AD. What
errors are in the Event viewer of your DCs and these two mail servers? Don't
spare a thing and post all the event ID#s and their source.

Since we have no idea of your current configuration or infrastructure, I
would like to assume all internal machines (DCs, clients and member servers)
are ONLY using your internal DNS servers and not an ISP's. I have to ask
that one because a majority of issues are caused by this huge oversight and
fixed by removing the ISP's DNS addresses.
