We have an application that uses MAPI to send email and it works fine on the
desktop, but when we run it as a service using srvany, it won't send email
as it says it can't connect to outlook. Does anyone know what we need to
change to enable it to connect ?

Thanks

Possibly check Event Viewer for error details.

What account (and type thereof) are you using to run the service under?

We've tried the local system account as well as the user that can
successfully run the app from the desktop.

Hmmm. Does the application vendor support running the program as a service?
Have you checked with them? Not everything can be done this way....

We wrote the application using the standard MAPI calls built into
Powerbuilder, so I guess I'll have to ask Sybase if they know (don't usually
get useful answers from them).

Thanks

Ok, finally got a reply from Sybase.. apparently they've had a ticket open
on this problem since 2001 and haven't fixed it yet.. great!!
