Dan

I receive this error message every time i reboot my
computer and access the server. Actually, this problem
happens to every windows professional on the Lan.

"An error occurred while connection M: to \\HCS-dc1\DC1-M
Microsoft windows network: the local device name is
already in use
This connection has not been restored"

I have to map the network drive or reinstall TCP/IP at
every boot for the past 2 weeks.

I need to fix this one permanently.

Please help

Thanks

It's not working....

Does a loginscript run when you login?
Disconnect the M-connection in Windows Explorer. Reboot. After that logout
and login again. Does it still happen?

Dan,

Can you elaborate on that a bit more?
Is there a loginscript?
If you boot that workstation without being connected to the network, can you
see that the workstation tries to map to the network?

if there was a logon script, i don't know. Noone touched the server and it
was working fine until 3 weeks ago. So maybe the logon script is corrupted.
IF it is, i don't know how to fix it.
And i tried as you asked. I disconnect the network cable to that computer
and boot it up. I didn't see any message about mapping network. I booted
on normal. So i plugged the cable back in. Tried the internet, worked
fine. Then tried to access the server. Received the same error message. I
had to uncheck and check the TCP/IP. Then i can access the mapped drive
from there
