Hi,
In Word/Office97, I have the capability in the File/Open dialogue
box to save and open files to an FTP site. At the bottom of the "Look
in" drop down list, there is an entry for "Internet Locations (FTP)",
and under that, is "Add/Modify FTP Locations". From there I add an FTP
site to which I can open and save files.

Windows Explorer doesn't seem to have this feature.

Is there a freeware add-in for Windows Explorer that will do the
same thing as Word/Office 97, that is, allow an FTP site to be mapped
via Windows Explorer? I'm using Windows 98SE as my OS.

Thanks,

Joe

Not sure if you mean accessing an ftp site via IE?

Because recent versions of IE have a built in ftp client, you can open
an ftp site with:

ftp:// User Name : Password @ Host Address (No spaces)

A site would therefore look like:

ftp://MySite:P[email protected]/

Wasn't.that feature patched by MS recently? The possibility to open
FTP-sites with username and password in the address?

Hi,
Visit http://www3.sympatico.ca/jcaverly/example.jpg for how this
looks in Word 97.

Note that the tree has the Desktop, Drive C:, Network NeighborHood,
and also has Internet Locations (FTP).

Windows Explorer does not allow me to have Internet Locations (FTP)
in the tree.

I'm looking for a freeware add-in to Windows Explorer that will
allow me to have this same functionality that Word/Office 97 products
have.

Thanks,

Joe

I think this one is "close" to what you want, i.e. freeware add-on for Explorer.

Website: http://www.trogsoft.com/

File: Sendto v1.6

Hope this helps.

BTW, I did find three shareware products, that pretty much match exactly what
you want though.

Lot's of luck to ya.

Bill
